The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of Northwest School of Medicine (NWSM), Peshawar, conducted an assessment of the MBBS Program Self-Assessment Report (SAR) for the 2025–26 assessment cycle as part of its commitment to academic quality assurance and continuous institutional improvement.
The assessment took place in the Principal’s Conference Room, where Principal Prof. Dr. Amir Khan warmly welcomed the internal and external members of the notified Assessment Team, including Prof. Dr. Akhtar Munir, Jinnah Medical College, Peshawar, and Mr. Sahir Atiq, Additional Controller of Examinations, Khyber Medical University, Peshawar.
The assessment commenced with an overview of the SAR by Mr. Syed Safyan Ali Shah, Manager QEC, highlighting the report prepared by the MBBS Program Team in collaboration with faculty members.
During the assessment, the team reviewed the SAR, its supporting annexures, and documentary evidence. The members evaluated the relevant criteria using the prescribed rubric-based Scoring Card and provided comments, observations, and recommendations for improvement.
The external members contributed their professional expertise and independent perspectives to the review of the program’s academic standards, teaching and learning practices, assessment mechanisms, institutional resources, and quality assurance measures.
The assessment aimed to identify strengths, highlight areas for improvement, and support evidence-based planning and continuous quality enhancement of the MBBS Program in alignment with applicable academic and regulatory requirements.
In recognition of their valuable professional contributions to the assessment process, Principal Prof. Dr. Amir Khan presented appreciation shields to the external members.
Through this initiative, QEC continues to promote a culture of self-assessment, accountability, and continuous quality improvement at NWSM, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to advancing the quality of medical education.
