3. Background and Rationale
Clinical electives provide medical students with the opportunity to gain hands-on clinical exposure, interdisciplinary learning, and experience of different healthcare systems.
Northwest School of Medicine aims to facilitate visiting medical students from national and international institutions to participate in structured clinical rotations under faculty supervision. The program promotes:

This program will enhance institutional collaboration and global medical education standards.
4. Objectives of the Electives Program
General Objectives
The program aims to:
- Provide supervised clinical exposure in major medical specialties.
- Develop clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills.
- Enhance patient communication and professionalism.
- Promote academic collaboration between institutions.
- Allow students to experience the Pakistani healthcare system and clinical workload.
Specific Objectives
Students completing the elective should be able to:
- Take focused patient history and perform physical examinations.
- Observe and assist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Participate in clinical rounds, seminars, and case discussions.
- Understand hospital workflow and patient management protocols.
- Demonstrate ethical conduct and professional behavior.
5. Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be enrolled in a recognized medical college.
- Have completed at least 3rd year MBBS or equivalent clinical training.
- Provide a letter of good standing from their institution.
- Submit proof of vaccination (Hepatitis B, etc.).
- Demonstrate English language proficiency (if international).
6. Program Duration
The elective program can be undertaken in the following formats:

9. Structure of the Elective

Applications should be submitted 8–12 weeks before the intended start date.

NWSM will provide:

To cover administrative, academic, and clinical supervision costs, students are required to pay a program fee based on duration and nationality:
