NWSM Hosts Thalassemia Awareness Session & Screening Camp

The Social Welfare Society, NWSM, under the leadership of General Secretary Abdul Haq, organized a Thalassemia Awareness Session at Northwest School of Medicine to promote awareness regarding the prevention, screening, and management of thalassemia.

The session was honored by the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Haroon, Senior Medical Officer at Fatimid Foundation, along with Dr. Huma Riaz from HMC and Staff Advisor Prof. Dr. Aziz Ur Rehman, whose valuable insights enriched the awareness initiative.

To encourage creative advocacy among students, reel and poster competitions were also conducted. The reel competition was won by Hassan Yar, Daniyal, Zeeshan, and Rayan from First Year, while Roman Wazir from First Year secured first position in the poster competition.

In collaboration with the Regional Blood Center (RBC), a CBC Screening and Blood Grouping Camp was arranged for students as part of the awareness campaign.

The event concluded with shield distribution by the Principal of Northwest School of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Amir Khan, who appreciated the efforts of the organizers, participants, and distinguished guests for making the initiative meaningful and impactful.
